Answered His Last Call
John Garis, of 632 Zane Alley, was killed at Ginnard's switch, above South Easton, on Saturday night at about 6 o'clock. Garis left home at 5:30 for Glendon where he was car inspector and it is thought he was struck by engine 153, Fred. Orf, Engineer, and Charles Blank, fireman. The engine struck some obstruction and on stopping found it be a dinner kettle. Later Conductor Lantz found the body which was identify as that of Garis. The body was taken to the old South Easton depot where Coroner Schultz held an inquest and rendered a verdict of accidental death. Undertake Taylor took charge of the remains.

Garis was in the employ of the company the past 10 or 12 years. He was about 45 years old. He is survived by his wife and four children. Mrs. Albert Peifer, of Easton; Mrs. Charles Bisbing, Charles Garis and Miss Nettie Garis, of this place.

He was member of the Franklin Fire Company ever since 1870 and in al that time responded to every alarm, often leaving his work in Glendon.
