James J. Gill -- decorated veteran
James J. Gill, 66, of Port Clinton, Ohio, died Saturday, March 2, in Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton. He was a member of the Lima Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 776 and helped to build the Lake Erie nuclear power plants.
Born Nov. 16, 1935, in Stewartsville, he was a son of the late Andrew and Evelyn Rush Gill.
He was Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and received the National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He also was an Air Force veteran.
He was a member of the Port Clinton Moose Lodge 1610, the Port Clinton Eagles Aerie 2295 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2480.
His wife, the former Marilyn J. Canary, died Nov. 11, 1992.
He is survived by three sons, *****. of Springboro, Ohio, ****. of Ravenna, Mich., and ***** of Port Clinton; a daughter, ***** of Howard, Ohio; two brothers, ****** of Stewartsville and ***** of Great Meadows; a sister, ***** of Phillipsburg; and six grandchildren. A brother, Robert "Bobby", died earlier.
Services were held on March 6th. Burial was in Four Mile House Cemetery in Fremont, Ohio. The Gerner-Wolf-Brossia-Marsh Funeral home, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton, was in charge of arrangements. |
