Fred Gross, Former Coopersburg Fire Chief, Dies at 63
Fred E. Gross, 63, former Coopersburg fire chief, died at his home, 501 Fairview St., Coopersburg, Saturday at 10:30 p.m. He had been in ill health for the last year.
Born in Upper Saucon Township, Gross ws the son of Joseph B. and Alice Raub Gross.
He had conducted a poultry and vegetable route in Allentown and Bethlehem. He was a resident of Coopersburg for the last 32 years. His wife, Mabel L. (Mohr) Gross is the sole survivor.
A brother, Milton Gross and a sister, Sally, wife of Milton Frick, preceded him in death.
Gross was a member of these Coopersburg organizations; IOOF Lodge, Saucon Encampment, and the fire company. At one time, besides serving as chief of the fire department, Gross was a member of its board of governors.
