S. Grube, 80, died Sunday, March 12, 2006 at the Hunterdon
Medical Center, Flemington.
Born in Califon, he formerly resided in Somerville before
moving to Branchburg fifty years ago.
He was a former Vice President of Somerset Trust Company and
then an assistant Vice President of United Trust Company for
a total of 46 years combined until his retirement in 1994.
Louis served as President of the American Institute of Banking
and was a Past President and Instructor of New Jersey State
Safe Deposit Organization.
He was an Army Veteran of WWII, serving two enlistments and
attained the rank of Technical Sergeant.
He was a former President of the Branchburg Senior Citizens
and was a present member. Louis was an active member of the
First United Methodist Church of Somerville and served as Lay
Leader for a large number of years, was a member of the church
choir, a past chairman of Pastor Parish Relations and a former
Trustee and Finance Committee Chairman. He served on the Somerset
County Welfare Board for 18 years, was a charter member and
a former Secretary of the Watchung Rotary, a member of the
Junior Chamber of Commerce, a Somerset County 4-H Leader and
Instructor and a former member of the Parent Teachers Association.
Louis was preceded in death by his sisters Lulu Vanderwater
and Anna Jennings.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 58 years Linda Braun Grube,
his loving daughters, Linda Hosier and husband Robb of Kernersville,
North Carolina, Barbara Houser of Washington, New Jersey, Donna
Smith and husband David of Columbia, N.J., his loving son Louis “Lou” Grube
and wife Laurel of Bound Brook, his cherished grandchildren
Kristi and Andrew Short, Matthew and Denise Smith and Bonnie
Grube, his dear sisters, Emma Dowches of Glen Gardner, Sister
MaryLouise (Dorothy) a sister of the Ursaline Order of Brentwood,
New York, Wilma Temple of Everett, Washington and a dear brother
