Fall Down Steps Is Fatal To Man
Herman Gruver is Killed Instantly at Bangor
Herman Gruver, an itinerant farm laborer, 64 years old, was
killed yesterday afternoon when he fell down a flight of steps
at the Colonial Hotel, Bangor.
Gruver entered the hotel, and without stopping, walked to
the steps in the rear of the lobby, leading to the basement
and fell down, striking his head on the concrete floor at the
foot of the steps. Dr. J. E. Brackbill was summoned and found
that the man was dead, the result of a fracture to the base
of the skull.
Gruver, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gruver, last
resided in the vicinity of True Blue quarry. Recently he had
no known permanent residence.
Dr. W. Calvin Nickel, of Nazareth coroner, issued a certificate
of accidental death.
The victim, who was unmarried, has two brothers, Elmer Gruver,
of Easton, and Charles B. Gruver, of Nazareth.
Funeral services will be held at the grave in Church Hill
cemetery, near Martin’s Creek, on Sunday at 2 p.m.
