Augustus R. Kiefer, Retired Restaurateur, Cement Firm Employee
Augustus R. Kiefer, 73, a lifelong resident of Nazareth area, died this morning at his home at Nazareth R.D.3
Mr. Kiefer, who retired two years ago as an employee of the Lone Star Cement Company, of Nazareth, had been in failing health for some time.
Earlier in his life he conducted a restaurant business in Nazareth and later was employed by the Binney and Smith Company, where he served as a foreman for 10 years. he was a member of Nazareth Moravian Church.
Born Nov 1, 1879, in Nazareth, he was a son of the late William R. and Marie Seyfried Kiefer.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Eva Rice Kiefer; three sons, Paul of Nazareth; Walter and Elwood, both of Charleston, W. Va.; three daughters, Mrs. Caroline Kulp, of Allentown, Mrs. Janet Fehr and Mrs. Dorothy Lloyd, both of Nazareth; a brother Charles Kiefer and a sister, Mrs. Carrie Michler, both of Charleston, W. Va; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Knecht funeral home, Nazareth, with the Rev. Robert I Geiring, pastor of the Nazareth Moravian church officiating, and interment in Nazareth Moravian cemetery. |
