William A. Piatt
William A. Piatt, 57, of 419, Maple Ave., Phillipsburg, died
yesterday, his birthday anniversary, at his home. He had been
ill since May 1952.
Born in Phillipsburg, Mr. Piatt was a son of the late William
F. and Martha Elizabeth Raub Piatt. He formerly was a steelworker
for the Taylor-Wharton Iron & Steel Co. He was employed
as a bartender at Gal's Cafe, Phillipsburg, after illness forced
his retirement as a steelworker.
Mr. Piatt was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Straw
Church. He was a member of the Easton Lodge 45, L.O.O.M., and
Phillipsburg Aerie 1372, Fraternal Order of Eagles.
His first wife, the former Helen Eldridge, died before him.
Surviving are his widow, the former Edna Smith; three brothers,
Howard F. and Lester H., both at home, and Albert I., Alpha;
and a sister, Mrs. Mary Shepherd, Phillipsburg.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Doyle
Funeral Home, Phillipsburg.
