John W. Purdy, 76, Former Courthouse Hotel Owner
John W. Purdy, 76, of 936 Lehigh St., Easton, died today in Easton Hospital where he was admitted last Saturday.

He was the owner of the Courthouse Hotel, Easton, until 1966 and then was a stewart at the Young Democratic Club, Wilson, until a year ago.

Born in Easton on March 22, 1902, he was a son of the late Harry and Mary Kemmerer Purdy.

He was a member of the Palmer Fire, co., Elks Lodge No. 395, Phillipsburg, the Young Republican Club and the Wilson Boro Republican Club. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Easton, and a life member of the Jacksonian Democratic club.

Surviving are his wife, the former Olive Germanton, ; a son, John W. Jr. of Phillipsburg; a daughter, Mrs. John Sinko, Phillipsburg; a brother, Harry J. of Wilson; two sisters, Mrs. Wallace Hartzell, Upper Nazareth township; and Mrs. Henry Graham, Binghamton, N.Y.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Clements Funeral Home, Easton. Interment will be in Easton Cemetery.
