James C. Reed -- veteran of two wars
James C. Reed, 69, of 1309 W. Rosemont Drive, Bethlehem, died Wednesday, July 4, in Wilkes-Barre Veterans Hospital.

He was a self-employed tax practitioner for many years and also worked for W.M.D. delivery service in Bethlehem for 15 years.

Born Dec. 28, 1931, in Bethlehem, he was a son of Helen Kiefer Reed of Bethlehem and the late William F. Reed Sr.

He was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church in Bethlehem. He was a 21-year veteran of the Army, retiring in 1970 after serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a recipient of the Korean Gold Award service medal. He received a bachelor of science degree from Kutztown University in 1978. He was a member of the Rittersville Bowling League for many years.

He and his wife, the former Sylvia B. Danko, observed their 28th wedding anniversary Dec. 16..

In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by three stepsons, ; a stepdaughter, ; four brothers, William F. Jr. of Bethlehem, *****. of Watertown, N.Y., ***** of Allentown and ***** of Coopersburg; four sisters, ***** of Alameda, Calif., ***** of Allentown, Adelaide Kirschman of Bethlehem and ***** of Coopersburg; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Monday in the Downing Funeral Home, 1002 W. Broad St., Bethlehem. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in the church, Bethlehem. Call 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
