Alfred P. Sandt, Former Clerk at Easton Hotel
Alfred Peter Sandt, 90, of 321 High St., Easton, died today in Nazareth R.D. He was in failing health since January.
Until his retirement a few months ago, he was employed as a desk clerk at the Hotel Lafayette.
Born June 11, 1875, in Easton, he was a son of the late J. Madison and Ellmanda Jones Sandt. His wife the former Minnie Hill, died many years ago.
Mr. Sandt was a graduate of Easton High School, class of 1892. In his early life he managed the Alpha Cement Co. farms in the Martins Creek area. Later he was superintendent of the Calumet Chemical Co. plant in Canada.
From 1923 to 1935 he owned and operated the Corona Hotel in Montreal, before moving back to Easton.
Mr. Sandt was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Easton.
He is survived by four nephews.
