Amandus Sandt, aged fifty-three years, died suddenly this morning at the Norristown asylum for the insane of which he was an inmate for some time. Deceased was a brother of Philip Sandt of Stockertown, Edwin Sandt, Mrs. Edward Michael and Mrs. Jacob Lehr of Easton, and Mrs. Edward Lerch, of Chestnut hill, and one married daughter, residing in Philadelphia.
He is survived by his wife and these children: The Misses Cora E., Effie and Rosa M. Sandt. Deceased was a member of Lafayette Post, G.A.R. of Easton. Deceased was a native of Forks Township, the son of the late Philip Sandt.

He served in company A, Forty-Seventh Pennsylvania Volunteers for four months and was wounded twice at the battle of Cedar Creek. He taught school in Easton for even years, also in South Easton, Phillipsburg and other places. A few years since while traveling at Flint Michigan, his mind became deranged and it became necessary for him to enter the hospital for treatment.
