Matthew Franklin Sandt, for the past 40 years a resident of Allentown died of complications resulting from several paralytic strokes at his home 505 North Eighth Street, that city last Thursday night.

Deceased was born in Forks Township, near Easton, along the Delaware River and was a son of the late David and Mary Uhler Sandt. He lived at Bethlehem and other places in the county until he went to Allentown 40 years ago. He had engaged in the painting trade during most of his life, but had lived retired for the past six years.

His widow, Sabina Jacob Sandt survives him, also an adopted son, Reuben, of Allentown, and two grandchildren, Reuben M. and William Burton Sandt. A sister, Miss Elizabeth Sandt, of 415 High Street, Easton, also survives. The late Mrs. Katie Brinker, wife of Edward C. Brinker, Sr. of this city, was a sister of the deceased. Mr. Sandt’s second wife Ida Yeakel Sandt preceded him in death. The wife who survived is his first, whom he remarried.

The funeral will be held on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. from the late home with interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. W. L. Katz pastor of St. Luke’s Lutheran church, Allentown will officiate.
