Dr. C.R. Uhler, 90, optometrist for 50 years.
Dr. Chester R. Uhler, 90, a native of Forks Township, died Thursday in Baltimore, Md., where he resided. He had practice optometry for 50 years in the District of Columbia until retiring in 1973.
Born May 15, 1892, in Forks Township, he was a son of the late Marcus and Lizzie Richards Uhler.
After attending Lafayette College and Stanford University, he was graduated from McCormick Medical College, Chicago.
Dr. Uhler had been honored by the American Optometric Association for his 50 year of practice.
He was a member of the Columbia Mason. He served with the U. S. Marine Corps in World War I.
Surviving are his wife, the former Sadie Halper; a son, Marcus of Pittsburgh, and three grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Luke’s Lutheran church, Washington, N.J. Interment will be in Forks Cemetery, Forks Township. |
