Collapses at Work, Dies in Hospital
Dudley Unangst Had Post at City Laboratory
Dudley Unangst, about 32 years old, of 239 West Wayne Avenue,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Unangst, of that address, died
shortly after noon today in Easton Hospital, after he had
collapsed while at work at the city laboratory, at the water
plant, North Delaware Drive, where he was employed as a laboratory
assistant.
As he collapsed, he is reported to have informed others
in the laboratory that he had taken poison, and one of them
understood him to say that is was potassium cyanide, although
his speach was serously affected by that time.
He was rushed to Easton Hospital, where a corps of physicians
and nurses worked feverishly with him in an effort to save
his life, but all their efforts were unavailing.
For some time Mr. Unangst had been under the care of a physician
for a nervous ailment.
His parents are his only survivors. His father for many
years has been an employee of the water company, both under
the managment of the Lehigh Water Company and of the Bureau
of water of the City of Easton, since it took over that company.
He is in charge of the pumping station at 15th street.
Dr. Theodore Reichbaum,Deputy Coroner, was one of the physicians
at the hospital who worked on Unangst. After that he would
perform an autospy later today to determin the cause of death. |
