Peter C. VanBuskirk, Former Commissioner of Monroe County
Peter Calvin VanBuskirk, of Saylorsburg, a former Monroe county
Commissioner, died yesterday afternoon in General Hospital,
East Stroudsburg, after an illness of one week.
He was a native of Saylorsburg and spent his entire life in
that place. For many years, he was engaged in farming, and
for 17 years was a foreman at the blue Ridge Clay Mine, Saylorsburg.
An active church worker, Mr. VanBuskirk was a member of the
consistory of the Evangelical Reformed congregation of Mt.
Eaton Church, for 55 years. He also was a member of the I.O.O.F.,
Sciota; P.O.S. of A., Saylorsburg, and Jr. O.U.A. M. Kunkletown.
Mr. VanBuskirk and his wife, Mrs. Annetta Green VanBuskirk,
would have been married 50 years on Thursday. In addition to
his wife, he is survived by a son, Ralph and two granddaughters,
Harriet and Jean, all of Saylorsburg.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Van
Bbuskirk residence. Continued services will be held in Mt.
Eaton church, with the Rev. Adam Bohner, Evangelical Reformed
Pastor, officiating assisted by the Rev. James Shannon, Lutheran
Pastor.
