Mrs. Martenis Dies Suddenly In Automobile
Mrs. Mae Wilhelm Martenis, of 1819 Ferry Street, widow of
Frank P. Martenis, a native Eastonian and for many years
a resident of Bethlehem, died unexpectedly Saturday night
while operating her automobile near Nineteenth and Ferry
Streets, Wilson.
Mrs. Martenis had just driven away from her home and experienced
trouble with her automobile a short distance away. She pulled
to the curb when she became ill and was trying to leave her
automobile when she collapsed.
Daniel Ross noticed her condition and summoned Easton Hospital
ambulance but Mrs. Martenis passed away before it arrived
Dr. David F. Bachman, Northampton County Coroner issued a
certificate of death due to a heart attack.
Mrs. Martenis was a Daughter of the late George and Emma
Laubach Wilhelm, of Easton, and was graduated from Easton
Hight School in the class of 1908.
She was a member of the Episcopal Church; of Calypso Chapter,
Order of Eastern Star, and Women's Temple Club, all of Bethlehem.
She is survived by a son, Pfc Frank P. Martenis, Jr. U.S.
Marine Corps, Camp Lejeune, N.C. and two brothers, E. Robert
Wilhelm, who resided with Mrs. Martenis and Paul H. Wilhelm,
