After a long illness from a complication of diseases, MAHLON D. FRANKENFIE LD, Justice of the Peace of Haycock township, died on Wednesday, Novemb er 11th, at his home at Haycock Run. He had been confined to his bed for s everal weeks. 'Squire Frankenfield, who was one of the most prominent a nd widely known residents in upper end of county, was a great-grands on of Adam Frankenfield, the pioneer who came from Germany and settl ed in Springfield township, and a son of Henry Frankenfield, who was al so a Justice of the Peace of Haycock for 30 years. 'Squire Frankenfield re sided on the homestead farm, which has been in the family for 100 year s. He was educated in the Bucks County Normal School and Eastman's Busine ss College of Poughkeepsie, NY, from which he graduated in 1865. For 10 ye ars he had been a teacher in the public schools of the county. On leavi ng the teachers' profession, he entered into business and for several yea rs was a merchant at Haycock Run. Later he bought the old homestead and ac tively engaged in farming for 30 years. In 1870, he succeeded his fath er as Justice of the Peace, which office he held up to the time of his dea th. He transacted much business in his neighborhood in settling estates, s urveying, conveyancing, etc. He was a staunch Democrat in politics, as a re all the family. He was born January 26th, 1811, and was twice marrie d, his first wife, Jennie, daughter of Jacob Maust, whom he married in 186 6, dying in 1867. In 1870, he married Catharine, daughter of John Fulm er of Hilltown township, who survives with six children: Asa of Chester, N J; Laura (Mrs. D.N. Sterner) of Church Hill; Ira, pastor of St. Paul's Lut heran church, Tower City; Mahlon Luther of Perkasie; Kathryn, Haycock Ru n, and Margaret of Plumstead. He also leaves two brothers and two sister s: Jonas Frankenfield and Jury Commissioner Abel Frankenfield of Haycock R un; Mary, widow of Aaron Ziegenfuss, and Elizabeth widow of William S. Na ce of Springfield. He was a confirmed member of the Evangelical Lutheran c hurch. For about 20 years, he was a deacon of the church, holding the offi ce of Secretary. He was one of the leading organizers of the cemetery comp any at Keller's Church, of which corporation he has been Secretary since i ts formation. He had held many positions of honor and trust in church a nd community. The funeral was held on Monday forenoon. Services and interm ent at Keller's Church.
