On Tuesday morning, Oct, 2, occurred the death of Mrs. Mary Sweeney, aged 79 years and 6 months. Mrs. Sweeney had been a reisdent of Clongton County for many years, going to Clington in 1861. Her maiden name was Mary Little. She was married to Mr. Sweeney in 1858. She was teh last of a family of 12 children. In 1862 her hsuband entered teh service, serving int he Twenty-Sixth Iowa infantry. Twenty yers ago he answered the fanal call. Owing to failing health. Mrs. Sweeney went ot Preemption, Ill. to lieved with her step=daughter, Mrs. C. Blackely, four years ago, remainging there until the death of her step=daughter, which occured ithe spring. Then she came or Comanche and has been cared for by friends here until the time of her death. Funeral services were held in Camanche Wednesay forenoon, conducted by REv. J. S. Westfall and Rev. R. L. Sargen, after which theremains were taken to Clinton and laid to reast in Springdale Cemtery. the pallbearers were six veteran of the Civil War.
