John F.C. Buttner, Operated Hotel In Glendon 20 years.
John F. C. Buttner, 66, of 2035 13th St., Miller Heights, Bethlehem Township, retired hotel operator, died yesterday morning in Easton Hospital where he was admitted Saturday. He was ill a year.
Born in Easton, Aug 14, 1901, he was a son of the late Frank T. and Tillie Kiefer Buttner.
Mr. Buttner was first employed as a silk weaver. He later was a bartender at Easton Trade Union for 13 years. He and his wife operated the Old Stoney Hotel in Glendon for 20 years, retiring in 1965.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Williams Township; Order of Fleas, Citizen's Hose Club, Pioneer Athletic Association and Williams Township Sportsmen’s Club.
Survivors include his widow, Mary McCloughan Buttner; two sisters, Mrs. Clayton Hagenbuch and Mrs. Charles Kandle, both of Williams Township; four brothers, Edgar M. and Willard O., both of Toledo, Ohio; Robley D.W., and Charles A., both of Williams Township; a foster daughter, Mrs. Herbert White, Easton, and nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Strunk Funeral Home, Easton. |
