Richard Frey, Motorman and Bus Driver
Richard P. Frey Sr., 73, of 40 S. 8th St., died yesterday afternoon in Easton Hospital. He was hospitalized Sept. 30 after a long illness.
Mr. Frey was an employee of the Leigh Valley Transit Co. for 45 years. He operated the South Side-Berwick street trolley and made the last trip from Berwick Street, Glendon and west Easton. He then became a bus driver. He drove the Seipsville bus before his retirement in1954.

Before working for the transit company, he was employed as a fireman for the Lehigh Valley Railroad.

Born in Easton on July 12, 1886, he was a son of the late Edward A. and Mary A. Smith Frey.

He was a sergeant in Reeder’s Battery, Sons of Veterans, Easton and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Easton, and the Association of Street Electric Railway and Motor coach Employees.

Surviving are his widow, the former Sophia Smith; a son *****, and two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Amato, and Mrs. *****, all of Easton; a sister, Mrs. Katherine Drake, and a brother Martin Frey, both of Easton; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Shillinger Funeral Home, Easton.
