Charles Garis, Ex-Democratic Committeeman
Charles P. Garis, 83, of 932 W. Wilkes-Barre Street, died this
morning in the Eastwood Convalescent Home were he was a guest
since Jan 2. He was ill several years.
Born July 15, 1883, in Easton, he was a son of the late John
and Martha Horton Garis. His wife Emma F. Campbell Garis died
Oct 8, 1961.
Mr. Garis was last employed at the Nazareth Steel Fabrications,
retiring in 1946.
He was of the United Church of Christ faith and a member of
Easton Aerie 111, Fraternal order of Eagles; Court General
Charles A. Wyckoff 179, Foresters of American, Easton; Rosalind
Circle 790,Companions of the Forest of America, Easton, Franklin
Hose Co and Four County Firemen's Association.
For many years he was Democratic committeeman in the 12th
Ward, Easton.
Survivors include a daughter, Miss Lillian J. Garis, at home,
a sister, Mrs. Grace Bisbing, Easton and nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Strunk
Funeral Home, Easton. |
