John E Garis, Clerk at M-E, was Musician
John E Garis, 51, of 527 Center St. died this morning in Easton
Hospital. He was hospitalized Feb 7.
Mr. Garis was born in Easton on March 3, 1908, a son of the
late George and Mary T. Smith Garis.
He was employed at Metropolitan - Edison Co. for the last
24 years. He was a clerk in the line department.
Mr. Garis was a graduate of Easton High School, class of 1926.
He was a member of the Arcadians orchestra. He played trumpet
with the band for 32 years.
He was a member of St. Peters United Church of Christ; Easton
Lodge 152, F&AM; Easton Forest 25, Tall Cedars of Lebanon;
Order of Fleas, and the Musicians Union Local 379.
Surviving are his widow, the former Dorothy E. Apgar; a daughter,
Joan, wife of James A Laubach, Easton; four sisters, Ada, wife
of J. A. Lum; Nellie, Wife of Earl Rapp, both of Easton; Mrs.
Florence Sanderson Phillipsburg and Mrs. Mildred Miller, Easton;
a brother, George E. Garis, Easton and two grandchildren. A
sister, Mary Margaret Riehl, died before him.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Strunk
Funeral Home, Easton. Easton Dodge will hold Masonic Services
at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. |
