Woman Hangs Self
Mrs. Jennie Mae Hoffman, 57, wife of Jonas Hoffman, committed suicide yesterday afternoon by hanging herself in a wagon shed at her home on the old Riegel farm, half a mile west of Hellertown. He husband and a son-in-law, Fred Seifert, discovered her body. Ill health and worry over the loss of several heard of cattle are believed responsible for the suicide.
Mrs. Hoffman was born in Williams Township, Northampton County, July 31, 1875, a daughter of the late Isaac and Sarah Kiefer Grube. She was a faithful member of the Lutheran wing of Old Williams Church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Fred Seifert, at home; and Mrs. Harry Starr, Bethlehem; three sisters, Mrs. John Williams, Philadelphia, Mrs. William Kreuger, Farmersville,and Mrs. Rose Kline, Allentown, and four brothers, Charles Grube, Hellertown; William Grube, Hanoverville; Benjamin Grube, Allentown and Walter Grube, Allentown. Three grandchildren also survive. |
