James Kautz
James Kautz, on of the best known residents of Stroudsburg,
died at the Rosenbrans Hospital on Tuesday afternoon about
1 o'clock following an operation which he underwent about a
week ago. Mr. Kautz had been ill for some time and the operation
was a last resort in an effort to save his life.
Deceased was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Kautz,
and spend his entire life in the borough of Stroudsburg. He
was for many years a member of the firm of Kautz and Staples,
liverymen, blacksmiths and carriage builders. When that firm
was dissolved several years ago. Mr. Kautz erected a large
storage house on Monroe street, which he conducted until a
short time before his death.
He was a member of Barger Lodge, 325 F. and A. M. Monroe Ray
Arch Chapter No. 281; S.S. Yohe Commandery, K. T. of Stroudsburg
and Irem Temple of the Mystic Shrine, Wilkes Barre. He was
also a member of the Fort Penn Lodge of Odd Fellows, and St.
John's Lutheran and church and brotherhood.
He is survived by his widow, and the following children; Mrs.
Christian Meichner, Mrs. Warren Lee, Paul and Layton Kautz,
all of Stroudsburg. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs.
A.B. Staples and Miss Emma Kautz, of Stroudsburg. |
