E.J. Kiefer, 87, sheriff's "Aide, Active in G.O.P.
Edward J. Kiefer, 87, a deputy sheriff and the oldest active Republican in Northampton County, died at his home in Raubsville at 11:15 o'clock last night. He had been ill for several weeks.

Mr. Kiefer was the Republican county committeeman form the eastern district of Williams Township. He had been active in politics since his youth and prided himself on the fact that he had voted for a Republican in every presidential election since 1884.

Mr. Kiefer was born on April 19, 1862, a son of the late Edward J. And Sarah Jane Kiefer. He spent most of his life in the Raubsville area. he was a farmer until his retirement and served for many years as a road supervisor in Williams Township. He also worked as a real estate and stock broker.

Mr. Kiefer was a member of Prosperity Lodge 567, F. and A.M. and the Knights of Malta. He was a former member of St. John Evangelical - Reformed Church, Riegelsville, and until the organizations disbandment in 1947 was a lifelong member of the united order of Knights of Humanity.

He is survived by two sons, Theodore and John, of Raubsville; two daughters, Mrs. Jane K. Leary, of Easton, and Mrs. J. Christy Conner, of Wilmington, Del; two sisters, Mrs. Minerva Bassett and Mrs. Mattie Walters, of Easton; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 P.M. at the Struthers funeral home, Riegelsville. The Rev. Roland M Banes, pastor of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Ferndale, will officiate. Interment will be in Hay's cemetery, Easton.

Masonic services will be held in the funeral home tomorrow at 9 P.M.
