William J. Lowe, Ex-Businessman In Easton, Dies
William J. Lowe, 73, of 736 Folk St., retired Easton Businessman, died this morning in Eaton Hospital where he was a patient two weeks.
Mr. Lowe was born Feb. 20, 1896, in Hughesville, N.J. a so of the late Lawrence Dean Lowe and Emma Mary Laubach Lowe,. He moved to Easton in 1915 and became a truck driver for William Streepy, Easton contractor.
In 1920 Mr. Lowe founded the Central Trucking Co. with Frank Hodgdon.
In 1925 he founded the Leigh Trucking Co, which became William J. Lowe & Sons in 1927. In 1942 he became vice president of William J. Lowe & Sons Sand and Gravel Co. He retired in1961 because of ill health.
He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church and the Order of Fleas, both of Easton.
Survivors include his widow, the former Lillian M. Snyder; three sons, Lawrence, Russell and ***** all of Easton; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Bechtel Funeral Home, Easton. |
