John I. Shook, 84, of Flicksville, died Monday in the Slate Belt Medical Center. He was the husband of Hilda (Fauerbach) Shook and the late Lucy (Peel) Shook.

He was employed by the Pennsylvania State Department of Highways for many years, retiring in 1963.

Born in Upper Mount Bethel Township, he was a son of the late John E. and Barbara (Housman) Shook.

He was a member of Flicksville United Church of Christ.

Surviving with his widow are a son Donald and a brother Elmer, both of Bangor; a sister, Armina Stocker of Bath; a stepdaughter, Linda Edelman of Bangor; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three step- grandchildren. A daughter, Caroline LaBar, died in 1975.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Hough Home for Funerals, 2nd and Market streets, Bangor. A calling hour will precede the services
