Samuel Stamets, 73, Ex-LVRR Engineer, Formerly of Express
Samuel "Dewey" Stamets, 73, of 2354 Second St. Avona
Heights, was dead on arrival last night at Warren Hospital.
Born in Carpentersville, N.J, on Oct 17, 1898, he was a son
of the late James J. and Sarah C. Steckel Stamets.
Mr. Stamets was an engineer for the Lehigh Valley Railroad
43 years, retiring in 1959. He last worked as a deliveryman,
retiring in 1964.
He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers,
Local 356.
Survivors include his widow, Florence Beckett Stamets; a son,
Lester, Miami, Fla.; two stepson, W. Kenneth Stout, Jr., West
Easton and John Earle Stout, Raubsville, a sister, Mrs. Rhoda
Merrick, Phillipsburg, and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Fisher funeral
Home, Wilson. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine. |
