Morning Call Jul 3, 1987

Robert I. Steckel, 74, of 2 Wilson St., Phillipsburg, died Wednesday in his home. He was the husband of Ethelyn (Bachman) Steckel. They observed their 55th wedding anniversary last September.

Steckel was a machinist for Cooper Industries, Palmer Township, for 13 years until retiring in 1977. He previously was a route man for the former Fairview Dairy, Phillipsburg, for 35 years.

Born in Easton, he was a son of the late Irvin D. and Flora (Seifert) Steckel.

Surviving with his widow are two sons, a daughter, a sister, Anna Mae Sandwick of Bangor; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Rupell Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg. Calling hours will be 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday.
