Old Boatman Dead
Theophilus Steckel Was Well Known Along the Canal.

Theophilus Steckel, a well known canal boatman, died at 7:30 o'clock his morning at his home, 306 South Seventeenth Street, of a complication of ailments. He was 82 years old.

He is survived by his widow and seven children; Rosa and Laura (By his second marriage), at home; John, Mrs. Frank Zellers, Mrs. Levi Hoover, Mrs. Anna Carty, of Easton and Mrs. John Yost, of Raubsville (by his first marriage). One brother William Steckel of Easton, also survives him.

Deceased was a native of Raubsville and came to Easton about two years ago. For many years he was a canal boatman, and later operated a sand pit at Raubsville. He was a member of the Raubsville M. E. Church. The funeral will be held on Thursday morning at 10:30 with interment in the Raubsville cemetery.
