Donald L. Trube, 54, Musicain, crash victim
Donald L. Trube, 54, of Ormond Beach, Fla., formerly of Easton,
was killed Wednesday in an automobile accident on Route I-95
in Petersburg, VA.
A big-band musician, he toured with the Artie Shaw Band and
also played at various times with the bands of Buddy Morrow,
Sammy Kay, Guy Lombardo, Bob Crosby, Ted Weems and Ralph Montero.
Born Oct 26, 1929; in Easton, he was a son of the late Lester
and Grace Moser Trube.
Mr. Trube was a graduate of Easton High School. He served
with the U.S. Air Force and was a member of several musician
unions in Florida.
Surviving are a son, Robert of Easton, R.D.4, and two daughters,
Beverly Templeton, Marble Falls, Texas, and Mrs. Susan McCash,
Newburg, Mo.
Private Services will be held under the direction of the Strunk
Funeral Home, Easton.

Donald Trube
Donald L. Trube, 54, a well known musician and, until recently,
a resident of Ormond Beach, died Wednesday in an automobile
accident on Interstate 95 near Petersburg, VA.
Mr. Trube was primarily known as a trumpet player, but he also
played the trombone, vibes and piano. He left Ormond Beach
in March to join the Artie Shaw Band as first trumpet and vocalist
on a one-year road tour.
He was born in Easton, Pa., to Lester and Grace Moser Trube,
both now deceased, and attended Lafayette College in Easton.
He served in the Air Force where he was member of the Air Force
Band from 1948 to 1953.
Among the groups he played with during his career were the
Woody Herman Orchestra, Buddy Morrow, the Glenn Miller Orchestra,
the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Bob Crosby and his Bobcats, and
with Ralph Martieri.
Mr. Trube sat in with Al Hirt and Pete Fountain while on a
six month stay in New Orleans, and in 1971, went on a prolonged
tour as a lounge entertainer with a national motel chain which
brought him to Daytona Beach in 1972, where he performed at
many area nightclubs. He also headed the Daytona Jazz Band,
renowned for its Sunday afternoon Dixieland concerts. In Ormond
Beach he lived at 1104 Avenue J.
Survivors include a son, Robert, Easton; and two daughters,
Beverly Templeton, Marble Falls, Texas, and Susan McCash, Newburg,
Mo. Services will be at the convenience of the family. Strunk
Funeral Home Inc, Easton, is in charge. |
