Arthur W. Walters -- school custodian
Arthur W. Walters, 91, of 27 Chambers St., Phillipsburg,
died Wednesday, May 26, in the Care Center of Lopatcong
in Lopatcong Township. He was a custodian for 10 years
at St. John's Lutheran Church in Easton and was last employed
as a custodian for the Easton school district before retiring
in 1975. In retirement he worked for Rowe's Texaco Service
Station in Phillipsburg.
Born April 3, 1908, in Glendon,
he was a son of the late Harvey and Laura Echardt Walters.
He lived in the area all his life.
He was a member of Good
Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wilson Borough and the Brotherhood
of the church. He was a 1930 graduate of Phillipsburg
High School.
He and his wife, the former Naomi Kroening, observed
their 58th wedding anniversary last June 23.
In addition
to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Harvey W. of
Morris Park, Lopatcong Township, and Arthur W. Jr. of Hopkins,
S.C.; two sisters, Mabel Mamber of Phillipsburg and Mary
Wood of Honeoye, N.Y.; three grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Three brothers, Kenneth, Frank and Conrad, died earlier.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Rupell
Funeral Home, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg. Call
1 p.m. Saturday to time of services in the funeral
home. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery in Greenwich
Township. |
