Notes:
Valentine Garis Sept 24, 1828 in the Delaware River. It was
a general opinion that while he was in the act of stepping
from one Durham boat to another, he unfortunately made a misstep
and fell between them. As it was late in the evening, his neighbors
were unable to find his body until the following day. The deceased
was in his 43rd year and left a widow and several children.
