Peter Hay
Peter Hay, retied Nazareth farmer and horse and cattle trader died at 2 p.m. Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alex’s Seagreaves at Allentown with whom he had resided the last seven years. He was in his 94th year.
A resident of the section in and around Nazareth most of his life, Mr. Hay at one time owned the old Hartzell farm, now the Sheets farm.
He was a great horse lover, and for some years operated sales in the cattle shed which stood at the site of the old Nazareth Inn, now the Heckman and the Odd Fellows buildings.
Mr. Hay was twice married. His first wife was the former Liza Whittier, His second wife, Mrs. Josephine Strunk Hay, died about 13 years ago.
His step-brother, the late Rudy Babp, who was the president of the Second National Bank of Nazareth also was in this 90’s at the time of his death.
The funeral will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Rohn funeral home, Nazareth, and interment will be made in St. John’s Union cemetery, Nazareth. The Rev. George S. Kleckner will officiate. |
