Margaret S. Litchfield
Margaret S. Litchfield, 85, of Mamaroneck, N.Y., a former resident of Easton, died march 28, in Ramapo Manor Nursing Center in Suffern, N.Y.

She taught school in Easton for two years before moving to New York, N.Y., where she worked as assistant editor on the publications of Institute of Radio Engineers. She also taught for several years in Rye Neck and Mamaroneck schools in New York.

She was a member of the village planning board in Mamaroneck from 1955 to 1976, and chairman of the board from 1962 to 1976.

Born June 16, 1903, in Easton, she was a daughter of the late John D. and Hattie May Ott Sandt.

A 1921 graduate of Easton High School, she attended Moravian College and received a bachelor’s degree in English from Pennsylvania State University in 1925. During her college yeas she worked summers as a proof reader at The Express.

She also earned a master’s degree in 1962 from New York University.

She was a member of Mamaroneck United Methodist church and was active in community Christ, Red Cross, Cub Scouts, PTA, Rye Neck Student Aid Fund, Mamaroneck Women’s Club and Mamaroneck Historical Society.

Her husband, Clarence B. Litchfield, died in 1981, and a son John, in 1982.

Surviving are four sons, Ticknor of Suffern, Lawrence of New York, N.Y. Clarence Jr. of Mamaroneck and Richard of Miami, Fla; and 14 grandchildren
Arrangements were handled by Wanamaker and Carlough Funeral Home.
