Virginia M. Cox, age 84, of Topeka passed away Thursday, July 2, 2009. She was born May 3, 1925 in Junction City, KS the daughter of George M. Sloyer and Alice V. Kessinger Sloyer.
She married Ira W. Cox January 13, 1941 in Topeka. He preceded her in death April 9, 1996.
She worked as a hair dresser for Edna's Beauty Salon in Topeka. She was a member of the Northland Christian Church and a 25 year member of the Ladies of the Moose Lodge #1091.
She was preceded by a daughter, Sharron R. Cox Oct. 24, 1994, a grandson, John W. Burge Oct. 31, 1984 and a brother Irvin.
She is survived by four daughters, ***** of Chesapeake, VA, ***** of Clarkston, WA, ****** of Berryton, KS and ****** of Conway Springs, KS; three brothers, ****** and *****, both of Georgia and ***** of Hutchison; four sisters, ***** of Topeka, ***** of Topeka, ***** of San Francisco, CA and ****** of Overland Park, KS; 15 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2009 at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel. She will lie in state Thursday from noon - 9:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home with visitation from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
Interment will be at the Silver Lake Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Northland Christian Church Daycare or Heart of America Hospice and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home. Virginia M. Cox
