James Itterly Ends His life At His Home In Nazareth
Got into bath tub, slashed writs with knife, then turned on the cold water .
James Itterly, 48 years old, a well-known resident of Nazareth, committ ed suicide at his home on South Broad Street his morning, by slashing h is wrists with a pen knife and turning cold water on himself in the bath t ub.

Mr. Itterly was formerly a well known merchant and for many years conduct ed the general store at Bushkill Centre. Later he sold out and took the ag ency for a motor truck and few years ago, after being reported to have suf fered financial losses, took a position as a clerk I the store of Henry Sc hlegel, the clothier, working there until yesterday. However, he has n ot been in good health for several years and is believed to have suffer ed mental disorders as a result of his business experience. He did n ot go to work this morning. About 10 o?clock went into the bathroom of h is home and locked the door. His wife, unable to gain access and heari ng the water running, summed several neighbors. They broke in the door a nd found Mr. Itterly lying in the bath tub, with his face directly under t he spigot in the ice cold water pouring over him. He was bleeding profuse ly from the gashes which he had inflicted on his wrists with a pen knife.

The men removed him from the tub and carried him to his bed. Dr. J.A. Frau nfelder was summoned and did what he could to save the unfortunate man?s l ife, but the loss of blood and the exposure due to his lying in the cold w ater which had chilled him to the bone resulted in his death shortly befo re 11 o?clock.

Mr. Itterly is survived by his wife and three daughters, Mrs. Russell Mye rs of 2124 Birch Street, Wilson borough, and miss Minnie and Miss Irma Itt erly residing at home.
