Clayton D. Buss, 100, formerly of 1410 Northampton St., Easton, died Frid ay in Leader Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Palmer Township. He was t he husband of the late Helen A. (Transue) Buss.

He owned a real estate and insurance business in Easton for many years, re tiring in 1987.

He designed and built the former Seville Theater, which later became the f ormer Boyd Theater, Easton, in 1929. Before that, he built and managed t he Wil-Bor Theater, Wilson, where he had organized and managed an open a ir theater on 17th Street. He also managed the Third Street Theater, Easto n, for five years.

Born in Forks Township, he was a son of the late Clinton and Lizzie Buss.

He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilson.

He was an Army veteran of World War I.

He was a past secretary of the Easton Board of Realtors and a past direct or of the Nazareth Mutual Insurance Co.

Survivors: Daughter, Jacqueline Kilbanks of Easton and three grandchildren .

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Ashton Funeral Home, 14th and Northampton st reets, Easton. Call 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Clayton Buss, operated area film theaters
Clayton D. Buss, 100, of Leader Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Palm er Township, Pa., formerly of 1410 Northampton St., in Easton, died Frid ay in the center.

Former manager of the Third Street movie theater in Easton, he enlist ed in the War Photographic Bureau of the U. S. government in 1918 during W orld War I at the age of 19. On his discharge in 1919, he continued his th eater management career by organizing an open air theater at 17th stre et in Wilson Borough, Pa., where people sat on the lawn on folding chai rs to watch the movie.

Later he built and managed the Wil-Bor Theater in the are of 17th Street a nd Washington Boulevard and in 1929 designed and built the 1,800 seat Sevi lile Theater in Easton, which eventually became the Boyd.

Before retiring at age 98, he operated his own real estate and insurance b usiness at 12 10 Northampton St., he was a past secretary of Easton Boa rd of Realtors and a former director of Nazareth Mutual Insurance Company.

Born July 8, 1998 on a farm in Forks Township, Pa. He was a son of the la te Clinton and Lizzie Buss.

He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran church in Wilson Borough.

He was a life member of the Elks and the American Legion.

His wife, the former Helen A. Transue, died in 1985.

Surviving are a daughter, Jaqueline Kilbanks of Easton; and three grandchi ldren.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Ashton Funeral Home in East on. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine in Palmer Township.
