Larry M. Olpp
Larry M. Olpp, 73, of Bethlehem, passed away on October 9, 2012 at 10: 35 am at Lehigh Valley Muhlenberg Hospital. He was the husband of Ja ne M. (Schrope) Olpp for 37 years. Born in Allentown, he was a son of t he late Merritt John and Emma (Leiby) Olpp. He was confirmed in Rosemont e vangelical Lutheran Church, Bethlehem in 1954 and graduated from Liberty H igh School in 1959. He worked at Bethlehem Steel in the electrical mainten ance department for 33 years, retiring in 1995. In his beginning yea rs he was a crane hook inspector. In 1970, he was certified as a Motor Ins pector Class A. He was an electricians apprentice from 1959-1962 with a lo cal contractor before he was drafted. Larry served his country honorably w ith the U.S. Army during the Korean War 1962-1964. He was with the 716th m ilitary police battalion; stationed out of Ft. Dix, NJ. During this tim e, he was also in Mississippi to re-establish order during riots. In Ju ly 1963 he became an official Army Projectionist. Larry and Jane exchang ed their wedding vows at Calvary Temple Church, Whitehall on December 2 7, 1975. He was a past member of Life Church, Allentown. He was an acti ve member of the American Legion VFW #945, active supporter of PA Fratern al Order of Police, NRA, Disabled Veterans Assoc., United Steel Workers Lo cal Union 2599, and donated to many causes related to cancer research, et c.

Survivors: Wife; son, Matthew and wife Christina of Allentown; sister-in-l aw, Barbara Kuhns and her husband Frederick of Schnecksville; nephew Mick ey Kuhns and wife Anna of White Haven; niece, Julie Ann Dotterer and husba nd Gary of Kutztown; cousin Mae Bittner of Bittners Corner of New Smithvil le; loving canine companion, Elvis.

Services: 3 p.m. Sunday, October 14, at Cantelmi Funeral Home, 1311 Broadw ay, Fountain Hill, where family and friends are invited to call fr om 1 to 3 p.m. Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Octob er 15 at Bethlehem Memorial Park, 1851 Linden St., Bethlehem.
