R. F. D. Man Killed by Backing Train
Caught in His Box-Like Vehicle, He could Neither See Nor Hear
Oscar F. Wright, rural mail carrier on route no. 4 connected with the Naza reth post office, was killed at 8:30 this morning by being run down by a b acking freight train on the Lehigh & New England railroad at the grade cro ssing near the Nazareth Stone Company's quarry, between Tatamy Junction a nd Nazareth.

Mr. Wright was riding in one of the regulation mail wagons, built in box s hape, and evidently did not hear or see the train approaching, although me mbers of the crew declare that the engineer blew two signals to warn the m ail carrier. The wagon was crushed like an egg shell and the mail carri er was dying when picked up by members of the train crew. Both his legs w ere broken, he was cut and bruised about the head and he was hurt internal ly.

The deceased was 42 years old and had been a rural carrier during the pa st six years. He is survived by wife and by two daughters, Mrs. Charles Re infied and Miss Helen M. Wright, both of Nazareth, where deceased reside d. He is also survived by his father, Joseph Wright, at near Nazareth, a nd by three sisters, Mrs. Frank Smith, of Wilkes-Barre; Mrs. Joseph Georg e, of Buffalo, N.Y., and Miss Laura Wright, who resides with her father. T he deceased was a member of the Nazareth Council, O. U. A. M.; was a memb er of the Nazareth Moravian Church, and was a member of the Rural Letter C arriers' Association of Northampton County.

The crew of the train was composed of R. W. Fehr, engineer, Charles W. Hes ter, fireman, and George A. Hartzell, J. M. Lichtenwalner and G. J. Feh r, brakeman. All reside in Bath,
