Willard G. Hager, 86, formerly of Perkasie, died Dec. 10. Husband of the l ate Virginia D. (Wimmer) Hager. Survivors: Daughter, Kathy Green; two gran dsons; sister. Willard G. 'Willie' Hager, formerly a longtime resident of Perkasie, pass ed away Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at his residence in Rockhill Mennonite Co mmunity, West Rockhill Township. He was 86.

He was the husband of the late Virginia D. (Wimmer) Hager for 49 years bef ore her death in May of this year.

Born in Quakertown, he was the son of the late Clifford Manasseh and Hel en (George) Hager. He was a 1942 graduate of Quakertown High School.

Mr. Hager proudly served his beloved country in the U.S. Army 69th Infant ry during World War II. He earned five Bronze Stars while participati ng in the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign.

A meat cutter for his entire life, Willie first began working for his gran dfather at Hager's Meats, then at Headman's Meats, both formerly of Quaker town. He later worked many years at the former C.D. Moyer, Silverdal e. He retired from Knauss Dried Beef, Quakertown, in 1987.

He had been a member of the Quakertown American Legion Post 242.

Mr. Hager was a longtime member of St. Andrew's Evangelical Lutheran Churc h, Perkasie, where he faithfully served as superintendent of the Sunday sc hool, and as an usher. He also had sung with the choir and the funeral cho ir.

Along with his wife, he had often visited 'shut-in' members of the congreg ation, and had volunteered at the Rockhill Mennonite Community after re-lo cating there a few years ago.

Willie loved the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, and enjoyed going to Re ading Phillies games with his friends. He especially loved walking in La ke Lenape Park with his wife.

Mr. Hager is survived by his daughter, Kathy J. Green and her husband, L t. Mark R. Green, USN; two grandsons, Noah and Kevin, all of Pace, Fla.; a nd a sister, Doris Trumbauer and her husband, Robert, of Kunkletown, Pa.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, in St. Andrew 's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dill Avenue and Chestnut Street, Perkasi e, where family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service. I nterment will be in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Perkasie.
