Paid His Bet
This (Saturday) morning Ephraim Brotzman, of Williams Township, paid his b et last to John Heller on the late Election. "Eph" is a bang-up Republic an and was an out-and-out Blain man. He was willing to bet on his favori te every time, and it was for this reason that he had no hisitancy in maki ng a wager the he would wheel John Heller from Moyer's Tavern to Centre Sq uare, Easton, if Blaine was no elected. Helle to wheel him if Cleveland w as defeated. Well, this bet went the way of all similar bets on Blaine, a nd "Eph." prepared to "Pay Up.: This morning John seated himself on a whe el barrow about 7:30 and "Eph: grasped the handles. The journey once beg an was carried through and about 12 o'clock the party rearch the squar e. In accordance with the bet "Eph" was to treat at each saloon or hot el found, and ere Centre Square was reached the party had made a sozen su ch halts, beises those for resting. John was pretty well -- "jolted up.: E ph, fel emense."
