Gertrude E. McFadden; Police Officer?s Widow
Mrs. Gertrude E. McFadden, 79, of 2105 Park Place, South Whitehall Townshi p, who was active in the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) auxiliary for ma ny years, died Saturday in Allentown Hospital.

She was the widow of Daniel F. McFadden, a lieutenant on the Allentown Pol ice Department at the hime of his death in February 1961.

She was secretary of the Queen City Lodge No. 10 Auxiliary and was a form er secretary of the Pennsylvania Lodge FOP Auxiliary. She was also a pst p resident of the auxiliary of the Lehigh Democratic Club, a past treasur er of the Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Wo men of the Moose Chapter, No. 39.

She and her husband had formerly operated a grocery store at Penn and Libe rty Streets, Allentown for 23 years.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Christian and Gertrude ( Frankenfield) Thumm.

She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Siena, Allentown.

She is survived by two sons, Eugene J. Sr., Allentown, and Francis D ., of Limeport, a sister Marion, wife of Walter Stutzman, of Cetronia; s ix grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the c athedral. Calling hours will be 7-8:30 pm. Tuesday in the J. S. Burkhold er Funeral Home, 1501 Hamilton Street, Allentown.
