Cahill - The many Horton friends of Charles T. Cahill, 77, were shock ed to learn of his death Sunday, May 14, at the home of his son, Ray Cahil l, in Topeka. He had only been ill a short time, and Horton folks had n ot considered his illness serious.

Charles Trueman Cahill was born, March 3, 1862, in Ohio. He ca me to this section in 1881, before Horton was started and was a reside nt of the community for 47 years. He was a brother of the late Morr is W. Cahill. For many years he worked at the Rock Island shops at Horto n, and for about 10 years was janitor of the First Ward school building, w here he was popular among both teachers and pupils.

Mr. Cahill married Emma Louise Sloyer on June 14, 1887. She di ed at Horton on April 11, 1928. The entire family was raised in Horton a nd all of the children attended the Horton schools. Mr. Cahill was a fi ne citizen who had a world of friends here. He was best known for his unf ailing good nature, and except when visiting his children made Horton h is home because he enjoyed his contacts with the early citizens of this co mmunity, where the bulk of his mature life was spent. He saw Horton go th rough many changes, yet he was always loyal to it as his "old home town."

Mr. Cahill is survived by five children. The three daughters are: Mr s. Frank Whelan, Topeka; Mrs. Eulas Huchabay, Pratt; and Miss Marie Cahil l, Chicago. The sons are: Ray Cahill of Topeka and Harry Cahill of Chicag o. There are also two surviving brothers - Joseph Cahill of Portland, Ore ., and Robert Cahill of Chicago. Two children are dead - Marvin and Daisy .

The body was brought from Topeka to Horton at noon today (Monday). F uneral services will be held Tuesday, May 16, at 2:30 p.m. in the Henderso n-Rake mortuary. Interment will be made beside his wife in Horton Cemeter y.
