Boy Killed By Train
Sad Christmas Day Accident at Lucy Furnace. Head Crushed in.
A sad fatality took place at 10:20 on Christmas morning, at the Lucy furna ce crossing, on the Lehigh Valley Railroad, the victime being Harold Knobl e, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm Knoble, of Glendon. Yung Knoble, who was twel ve years of age, was playing along the railroad tracks with John Gill, a l ittle Hungarian, and two began snowfalling each other. Knoble ran acro ss the tracks and stepped from the east bound track to avoid a train ju st as passenger train No.l1 came long the west bound track. The boy was s truck by the engine huried to one side and when he was picked up, it was f ound that the back of his head was crushed in. Death was almost instantan eous. The remains of young Knoble were removed to the home of his parents .
Deceased is survived by his parents and the followin gbrothers and sister s: Floyd, Leslie, William, Peterry, parker and Earle, and Misses Daisy, Be ssie and Florence Knoble, of Gledon. He attended the Glendon public schoo ls and was very popular among his associates. The funeral be held Saturd ay afternoon at 2 o'clock.
Coroner Schleicher viewed the remains shortly after the accident. He deci ded that an inquest was unnecessary and gave a certificate of accidental d eath. |
