Pfister, Violet K.
Violet K. Pfister, 95, formerly of Glendon Borough, Pa, passed away Tuesda y, March 18, 2008 in Easton Hospital. She had been a resident of Old Orcha rd Healthcare for five and a half years. Born: On January 20, 1913, in Gle ndon, she was a daughter of the late Parker and Maud Kichline Knoble. Pers onal: Her husband, Valentine "Mike" Pfister Jr., died March 16, 1996. Viol et retired as business manager of the Wilson Area School District, where s he was previously secretary to the superintendent. Prior to that, she work ed for Ingersoll Rand Company, Cameron Pump Division; Henry Shober Movi ng Company and Penn Pump and Compressor. She graduated from Easton High Sc hool, Class of 1929 and Churchman Business School, Class of 1930. Violet e njoyed touring and camping in all 50 United States, Canada and Mexico wi th her husband and family. She was interested in family genealogy, Civil W ar and Glendon history. Memberships: Violet was a member of St. John's Lut heran Church, Williams Township, where she was a former Sunday School teac her and advisor to the Luther League. She was a member of AARP since 196 2, a member and former secretary of the Pennsylvania Association of Scho ol Retirees, Easton High School Class of 1929 Reunion Committee and a memb er, past president and secretary of the Hineline Family Reunion Committe e. Years ago, she was a member, past president and secretary of Glendon El ementary PTA, Wilson High School PTA, Northampton County PTA, American Bus iness Women's Association, Forks of the Delaware Chapter where she was al so named Woman of the Year in 1973; a member of Liberty Elementary PTA, Mo thers of Rainbow Girls and Glendon Borough Centennial Committee. She w as a former secretary of the Glendon School Board. Survivors: She is survi ved by a daughter, Sandra A Brown of Palmer Township; two grandsons, Jo hn T. Brown and his wife Dawn and Robert C. Brown, and a great-grandson, J acob R. Brown. A sister, Arlene E. Helm, and a son-in-law, Robert J. Brow n, died earlier. Services: Will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Strunk Funer al Home Inc., 602 W. Berwick Street, Easton, Pa. Call on Thursday fr om 6 to 7 p.m. and again on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral hom e. Burial will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine. Memorials: May be ma de to the church, 2745 Morgan Hill Road, Easton, PA 18042.
