Daniel H. Erdman Succumbs to Malady
Daniel H. Erdman, the well known traveling salesman and Democratic politic ian, died on Saturday at 5:15 o?clock at his home at 32 North Eleventh str eet, after an illness which caused him to suffer for the past twelve year s. The fatal attack, however, came on Wednesday morning and he sank rapid ly to the end. Mr. Erdman was suffering from a stomach ailment for all th ese years and he consulted all kinds of specialists in the hope of getti ng relief. Nothing availed, Wednesday while at work in the store of Bittn er, Hunsicker & Co., he was overcome with excruciating pain and was compel led to go home. He took to his bed and his decline was rapid. He was suf fered untold agony and his death was a relief from his pains. He was cons cious to the end. It is believed that the illness was all ulcer in the st omach, but it proper diagnosis has baffled the best medical skill.

Mr. Erdman was one of the best known salesman in Lehigh county. For twenty -one years he travelled every corner of the county to sell goods for Bittn er, Hunsicker & Co. he came here from Zieglersvile, where he had been a c lerk in a store for two years. Previous to that time he clerked in Tice ?s store at Quakertown for a number of years. IT was while working the re that he was wedded on August 26, 1880, to Anna Laura Fluck, of that pla ce. He was born at Spinnerstown on March 7, 1861, and as a son of Dani el and Lydia Erdman.

There survive him his widow and four sons, William G., Robert D., Raymo nd B. and Paul F. Erdman, all at home. The brothers and sisters are Hora ce and Milton Erdman, all at home. The brothers and sisters are Horace a nd Milton Erdman, of Milford Square; Allen Erdman, of Brick Tavern; Hen ry and Howard Erdman and Mrs. Frank Neidig, of Spinnerstown, and Mrs. Jose ph Yeakel, of Limeport.

Mr. Erdman was prominent in secret societies. He was a member of Greenle af Lodge, No. 561, F. &. A>M.; Lehigh Lodge, No. 33, I. O. O. F., and t he Livingston Castle, No. 258 K. G. E. He was a member of Christ Luther an Church. Rev. C. M. Jacobs will conduct the funeral services and buri al will be made in Greenwood Cemetery.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday morning.

Mr. Erdman was for many years identified actively with Democratic politi cs and was high in its councils. He was for years a member of the City a nd County Standing committees, served formerly as City Chairman and was Tr easurer of the county Committee at the time of his death. He was Preside nt of the Democrat Publishing Co. He was a School Director in the Seven th Ward and was a candidate for Council. He was a good citizen and his ea rly death will be a source of much sorrow to his many friends.
