William served in the 104th PA Regiment during the Civil War. He was orpha ned at an early age and had no one to write to. The Frankenfield soldie rs that he served with said to write to their sister. They met after the w ar and married. He was a farmer in Mechanicsville. Her sister's obit sho ws her living in Forest Grove
