Abraham F. Durn
Heart failure induced by overexertion in running to catch a car to his ho me yesterday morning, caused the death of Abraham F. Durn, of Hellertow n. He came at 6 o?clock to South Bethlehem to care for the feed the hors es of Owen Ritter?s Sons at the Northampton Planing Mills., Second stree t, according to his Sunday custom. The change of car schedule made Mr. Dur ns anxious concerning his chances of securing an early return trip. He r an to Third and New Streets, where he board a car at 6:45 o?clock. Near t he gas house switch, the end of Passengers called the attention of the cr ew to Mr. Durn?s condition. Dr. W. H. Glick pronounced life extinct and t he remains were given in charge to T. K. McGovern and later to Undertak er P. A. Bergstresser, the later of Hellertown. He was a son of Joseph a nd Catherine Durn, was born at Springfield, Bucks County, July 22, 1954, a nd was aged 65 years, 11 months and 24 days. He was twice married, his fir st wife, Catherine, nee Hess, preceding him to the grave Aril 21, 188 9, he married Miss Amanda Muschlitz of Hellertown, who with three daughte r, Mr. Alfred Fritchman of Bethlehem, Mrs. Earl Barnes of Allentown, and M rs. Wm. Weitland of Helena, Mo.; a son, Erwin of Saucon, and two brother s, Milton of Hellertown and Elias of California, survive. Mr. Durn was a m ember of Hellertown council, Jr. O.U. A. M. For seven years he was employ ed as a driver by Owen Ritter?s Sons, South Bethlehem. The funeral wi ll be held on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o?clock, from the family residen ce on Main Street, where a service will be held. Interment will be ma de in Springfield Cemetery. |
