Hanns Hornschurch, was development engineer at I-R
Hanns Horschurch, 79, of 2707 Van Buren Road, Palmer townshp, died Saturd ay at the Leader Nursing HOme, Palmer Townshp, after a long ilness.
He received engineerig degrees from the University of Darmstadt ad the Uni versity of Stuttgart in Germany, and joined Ingersoll-Rand co,. in 1930, w orking ther efor 52 years in the turbo and Cameron divisions. Mr. Hornsch urch was engaged principlaly in developemnt and design work, retiring as t he chief developemtn engineer for the turbo products division.
He remain a sonslutant of that division until about three months ago.
Mr. Hornschurch was named master of design in 1970 by Product Engineeri ng Magazine, a McGraw Hill publication. The magazine cited Mr. Hornschurc h's technological contributions which changed power generation, chemical p roscess and petroleum refining. He was responsible for the design and dev elopment of the Centac compressor line.
He was a member of the College Hilll Presbyterain Church and a life memb er of the American Society of Mehcanical Engineers.
Born on Nov. 6, 104, in Darmstadt, he was a son of the late Christian a nd federise Hornschurch.
His first wife, Marion Krumnaches Hornschurch, died in July 1981.
Sruving are his wife, the former Gertrude Teel Plummer; a brotehr, Henric h, Franfurt, West German; two stepdaughters, Mrs. SusanPearl of Mons, Belg ium and Mrs. Kathrine Booth of Haddonfield, N.j.; a steson, John F. Plumm er of Wrentham, Mass. and seven step-grandchildren.
Services wil be at 2 p.m. Thuesday at the College Hill Presbyterian Churc h. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Townshp. T he Brooks Clements Funeral Home, Easton, is handling arrangements. |
